Donate Your Glasses

For years, Grand Central Optical has been collecting prescription glasses and sunglasses from our customers and adding an additional 30,000-40,000 reading glasses that we donate yearly, to benefit people all around the world.

GRAND CENTRAL OPTICAL SUPPORTS THE LION CLUBS INTERNATIONAL "LION’S RECYCLE FOR SIGHT” PROGRAM

You too can partner with us to make a real difference in the lives of visually impaired people in need worldwide.

Remember, those glasses you have sitting in a drawer or in your closet that you no longer use? Well, here is a great way to recycle them and do someone a good deed.

Just drop off your prescription eyeglasses, including readers and prescription sunglasses, at our Grand Central Terminal location in the Lexington passage. We have a basket by the front door, or drop them off at our Madison Avenue location. Simply leave your old glasses on the counter.

There’s no waiting at either location. We thank you in advance for your kind support.

A DONATION OF AN OLDER PAIR OF GLASSES CAN HELP TRANSFORM SOMEONE’S SIGHT AND QUALITY OF LIFE

SEE WHERE YOUR DONATION GOES

The World Health Organization estimates that there are 120 million children and adults in the world who are visually impaired from being either far or nearsighted.

Most of these people’s vision can be corrected, and normal vision restored, with a simple solution: a pair of eyeglasses. Such as an old pair of yours.

Once we donate glasses to the Lions Club, the glasses are shipped to a Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center where trained volunteers sort, clean and determine the prescription strengths of every pair of glasses. Then the glasses are carefully packaged up and stored until they are ready for eyeglass-dispensing missions.

At the mission site, eye care professionals perform vision screenings and appropriately dispense the recycled eyeglasses, free of charge, to children and adults in need.

Your donation will offer others new opportunities to learn, work, and enjoy an improved quality of life.
